I'm looking for something that I'm not sure exists. I've seen play along CDs for wind instruments where the sheet music is provided for Sax or Trumpet, and there's a CD with an accompanying pianist or bass player and drums. These are mostly in the jazz genre.

I'm looking for something similar in the lounge lizard genre (so songs like Satin Doll, Orange Colored Sky, Crazy, etc) where there is music for the piano and a CD with vocalist, maybe even a small lounge group to play along with. I surveyed sheet music plus site and I'm guessing they have what I want, but haven't been able to successfully search through the large selection to find what I want. Anyone have any suggestions to get me started? I'm also interested in books with arrangements of these types of songs (not fake books) targeted at early to advanced intermediate.
thanks

MarkL,

First, I'd suggest posting in the non-classical forum. You might find more answers there.

How about this book?

For arrangements, maybe these:

http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/4912623
http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/2932090
http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/1269308

I'd pick a song you want to play and use SheetMusicPlus's search feature to find books that include that song. Books labeled "easy piano" are early intermediate or harder, "piano solo" or "piano/vocal/guitar" are mostly late intermediate. (By US Music Publisher's and teacher's standards.)

Thanks, never noticed there was a non-classical pianist's corner. You got me on the right track with these selections. Googled them and found another site that organizes things in a much easier way to understand:

Mark,

Also check out the Music-Minus-One series. They have both classical and contemporary music. Some of it is really easy, and well... You get the idea.

MarkL,

Just came back from the local music store (I was good - I only bought gifts) and saw the Steinway Library of Piano Music series. Some of the books in this series might be worth looking at.

Interesting, never knew Steinway published anything like this. I like the one on left hand techniques.

My searches today seem to indicate that Hal Leonard owns the rights to an unbelievable amount of music, or else they have entered into a lot of agreements. The Hal Leonard web site is fun to look through.

Funny though the one volume published by Steinway that fits the OP's question is not listed there; Jazz Piano Play Along w/ 2 cds by Noreen Lienhard. Coincidentally the next thing I'm planning on buying at amazon; fairly good discount there from list price at the moment.

Not sure if there's much available including the vocalist though. At that point you may as well just get the original album and the sheet music of whatever it is you like.
