I've recently purchased the yamaha dgx 630 and it's serving me well. However I don't understand how to upload songs to the piano.. The manual doesn't say whether it has to be midi, mp3 or something else. The reason I really need to do this is because I bought a piano learning textbook with a cd. I'd like to be able to listen to the examples on the keyboard itself instead of going to my computer all the time. Now I was trying to put the tracks on a usb key, but the piano doesn't load the files.. what to do? Anyone else with this piano/keyboard and know what to do?

Usually the keyboard will want you to format the usb drive to its own specifications first.

Another option is to put the keyboard next to the computer and plug it in via usb cable. Then play the file as a midi file, and set the MIDI out to go to your keyboard. That way it will play it using those sounds.

Music you upload to a piano needs to be in MIDI format, so you could not have used that for playing a CD anyway.

The problem that I think they have right now is how to get that midi file to you? If they put it on a CD, chances are people will stick that CD into a cd player and voila, nothing. They used to do 3.5 Floppies, which have gone the way of the dodo bird. I think they should put them on a small usb flash drive and sell it that way. Or let you download the midi files for free if you buy the CD or something. Maybe they do...it's worth checking into.
