So i've finally found some time to start throwing down my compositions into sibelius, but first i need to find a midi cable.
Does anybody have any recommendations? I can snatch one up from Amazon for $6, but i want to make sure i'm not gonna have latency issues and that crap. I spent $1500 on the piano; to cheap out on the usb cable at this point would just be stupid.

All the same. I got a cheapo emux cable worked fine. It's like manfacturers who claim their overpriced gold plated HDMI cables are superior to cheapo £5 ones but actually does the same job, its all Is and Os.

Usually, if you plan on having a very long cable(20+ feet) and / or plug your cable in a heck of a lot of times(like hundreds and hundreds), a more expensive cable is beneficial. However, for most home usage, any cable is good enough.

So i've finally found some time to start throwing down my compositions into sibelius, but first i need to find a midi cable. Do you mean a simple MIDI cable or a MIDI to USB interface? A "MIDI Cable" is something that connects two midi devices and has a round DIN plug on each end. Midi cables are always used in pairs and crossover the In and Out jacks. If you are trying to connect a pair of round DIN plugs to a computer's USB then you need a MIDI/USB interface. Prices start at about $35. Be sure and buy one that has the LED activity indicators in the box. They help you debug. problems Here is a common one... http://www.sweetwater.com/images/closeup/750-Uno_img_boxshot.jpgLatency issues are from the audio interface software built into Windows. If you are not using Windows there will be no latency problem and if you are only using MIDI there will be none either.
