I am planning to purchase a full sized keyboard that will connect to my computer. Can someone recommend a lesson software that works with this type of keyboard?

any lesson software you find will undoubtedly be midi compatible.
but I can't recommend any lesson software.
i'd recommend a piano teacher instead laugh

I have to agree. I've tried a couple and what you get is really not better than a book, maybe not even as good as a book because you need to find a way to put the computer screen on the piano or swivel your head and manage two keyboards and a mouse.

What is good about the software vs. the book is the short video clips but you can get those from a DVD.

Yes the teacher is best but not everyone can do that. Second best is a book with an included DVD.

I've only looked at the software from Apple, that would be Garage Band that comes loaded on all aMacs. This is the best but there is not much. The other I've seen s by "eMedia" and is just really a talking method book

Piano Marvel might suit you. There's a free trial available, so it might be worth a look:

What do you need in your pc to connect a midi keyboard.
I have audio and video integrated in the main board is that a problem?

I realize an instructor would be the best route, but is not an option for me at this time. I thought about books and DVD's and will probably try something like that. I just thought a computer program might be more interactive. Any chance there is something out there for kids. I had success learning to type with a kid's program. It was a little more fun.

I'll try out the Piano Marvel.

Thanks

I tried Piano Marvel yesterday; it is really not that bad. I only started playing the piano a 3 weeks ago (no teacher yet).

I found the first exercises to be a bit too easy, but my son struggled a bit at first, but he was able to carry on (he only started playing yesterday). I am thinking of using Marvel to start him off and maybe later get him a teacher.
I am planning to carry on with the exercises today and see how far I can get.
