Hi everyone,
I have to buy a second dp, for my son to play when he's with his mother, who has changed her mind about paying for the dp. Money obviously is a concern, since I'm also paying for the piano lessons!
It seems like the feel of the dp is the most important criteria (at this price range) and given that I have a limited budget, I'm looking at getting either a Casio CDP 100 or a PX-130 (which is what I have), because of the weighted keys.
I've found the CDP 100 online for 350.00, from Musician's Friend but the PX 130 seems to have gone up to 499.00 on GC, Sweetwater and Amazon.
I saw a couple of posts recently that said the PX 130 was available for 390.00 but could not find a post that named the site that's offering that price.
If you know where I could get a better price on either model (or if you recommend a different model) please let me know. I hope to buy it this weekend from GC and would like to walk in with printouts of cheaper deals.
Thanks for your suggestions! ~ db
PS: I had my first piano lesson yesterday and it was a lot of fun. I have nothing to compare it to, but my teacher seems like a good fit for me. he's also going to be teaching my son.

You have to call the online dealers. Keep looking and find just one with a 15 or 20% sale and they'll all jump on the bandwagon, or just try calling Music 123 and ask them for the discount.
As far as going way cheaper, which I would do, you could get something like the WK 200 which lists for $199 but I got for $139 by getting a refurbished model. IT has a lot of educational features built in.

Thanks Nikalette. If I understand you correctly, you're suggesting I should call up different online dealers and ask for their best price? I would like to pick up the instrument this weekend, if I can, which means I'd need to go to a brick and mortar store and would need proof of a price in order to get the local store (most likely GC) to match it.
And it would be nice if i could go with something much cheaper but I assumed it would be preferable to go with an instrument that has weighted keys and my understanding was that the WK 200 and similar 'keyboards' did not have weighted keys.
Forgot to mention, that my son is 6 years old, if that makes a difference

I hope to buy it this weekend from GC and would like to walk in with printouts of cheaper deals. Go to the Music123 site. Add the items to the cart and go to checkout. Then enter the code "DEALTAKE". Is it good for 15% off order $300 or more and 20% off order of $500 or more Then go to guitar center. They will beat Music123's price by 10% of the difference. You will need a stand and bench too. See if you can run the total up to $500 so the 20% applies

Thanks ChrisA! That's great info. A clarification on the price comparison. When a brick and mortar store like GC compares prices do they take sales tax into account? What I mean is:
Online store - price for item x - 300.00 Brick and mortar store - price for same item - 350.00 without tax, 370.00 price with tax
Does the brick and mortar store use 350 or 370 (ie 50.00 or 70.00) when comparing the difference?
Does anyone have any product recommendations? I'm trying to keep my costs low.
Thanks! ~ deburn

ChrisA, I did what you suggested and noticed they were throwing in a free Sennheiser HD 202 Intense Stereo Headphones in addition to the 15/20% discount. Probably not great headphones but it is a Sennheiser and it's free!

Suggestion: watch for email offers from samash, like every two months they have had the offer of $100 off $499, so you can get the px-130 for $399. I got mine with a similar offer, where they sold the px-130 for $499 and they gave you a nice electric guitar (with amp and stand, etc) free. here is a sample link from one email Sample link keep an eye on the emails ...

Probably not great headphones but it is a Sennheiser and it's free! Yes, I got the headphones. They are worth about what I paid. Actually they are the kind you see for sale most places for $20. Good enough for practice, you can hear all the notes played. But even the lowest end AKG (K77) are must better. The headphone deal of the year is at Sweetwater, they still have the K240 for $99.

No, I got the px-130 AND the guitar for $499 + tax. When I first got the offer of $100 off $499 I passed on it because i had not tried the px-130. When the offer came back it was the guitar deal and I had already put my little paws on the px-130 and liked it. Today they have an almost as good offer: 100 off $699 You can get with this the px-330 for $599 (sounds good to me!)

Just got back from GC with a PX-130! Got it for 394.00 with the free Senn HD 202 headphones. I also bought a basic stand and a bench and got 20% off on those two. Total was about 483.00 including tax.
I really didnt want the headphones but the clerk said he couldnt substitute it for something else and he was a nice guy so I said fine.
I think I got a great deal, thanks again ChrisA - the info on music123 made all the difference!
BSC, with their 20% off deal, you can get the PX-330 for 560 at music123.

I wish, but I already have two nice keyboards: the Pearl Of The Realm - the ypg-635, my favorite, and the nice px-130 (which lives in the weekend house, I stepped out of it to type this). But I will pass the deal to friends: it is really good $560 for a px-330 - wow

I tried the Music 123 site for the PX-130 but can't seem to get the DEALTAKE coupon code to show discounts before I have to enter payment information. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks to everyone for the info.

Hey emkim! I just played around with the DEALTAKE and CCABIN codes at music123 and I could not get them to work either for the Casio px130 or another model. Upon closer examination, Casio is listed as an excluded brand . What a total bummer! Sounds like a recent change.
Love others and do what you love!
