I used to think that way. It's self defeating. If you can't be bothered don't expect anyone else to.
I think it's like your own cooking, I would rather learn someone else's composition than mine. Of course if it was easier I would give it a go, but it's not easy. The only 10ths are right at the end, where it's really slow. No my hands aren't huge, but I can reach a 10th.
How well I know this syndrome. Here's the way it was for me. I was trying to make a STATEMENT! and so I wrote difficult music. When I actually tried learning some of my music I discovered little things that were unnecessary and thus made unnecessary difficulty. In simplifying those things my music became easier to both hear and play.
Of course things may be entirely different for you. But both your playing and your music will probably benefit from your making the effort to learn it. BTW, my cooking improved when I started eating food I cooked myself as well. Bon appetit!
