Mr. Langshaw's Square Piano by Madeline Goold.

Madeline bought a 1807 Broadwood Square piano at auction in England and the book documents her research on the piano and it's distributor, Mr. Langshaw. Anyone interested in early keyboard history in England will find Madeline's research impressive as she tells about Broadwood, London, Lancaster, and Mr. Langshaw's life as an Organist, Piano Teacher, Piano/Organ Tuner, and Broadwood Distributor.

Sounds interesting, Bob. Thanks for the tip.

And while we're talking books, I'll throw in a plug for the book "Rhythm," by our very own Piano Girl, Robin Meloy Goldsby. Not a piano book, but an excellent novel centered around music by a valued forum member.

And the winner is ... Keystring !!!

How do you call that kind of inversion ?
in French it is a "contrepeterie"

As I am a guy that suffers of permanent deep depression, I just can't read "decent read" without thinking "recent dead"

But I'm doing my best to get over it !

sorry to cannibalize the thread !

Spoonerism. Call it an occupational thing. When you translate you try to figure out the weirdest typos, asking yourself, "What did he mean to say when he wrote that?"

Years ago a newspaper wrote that the orchestra "had a nice punos". That's "sound" when you insert it upside down. What do you call that?

Guilty of co-cannibalizing. blush
