A local music shop has one Casio PX800 model left, their floor model. I haven't seen it yet. Let's assume it's in good condition and there isn't much to complain about. What would you more experienced piano buyers demand in the way of a discount?

I found demos usually to be a bad idea. People like to hammer it (figure of speech) and abuse it to observe the fullest potential of a product when they are shopping around. This doesn't apply only to pianos.

Guitar Center will routinely offer 10%-15% off of new in the box gear. If that is all you get buy a new one.

Music123 is currently offing 20% of of their entire inventory.

I'll second that.

The high-priced goods, sold at piano dealers, don't take much abuse ... lower traffic.

But the items I saw at Guitar Center last year were in poor shape. Some were unusable.

You'd obviously rule those out when buying. But even among the apparently functional units, you still have to wonder how much hidden, less-than-fatal but still-serious wear/damage has been done. I'd steer clear.

I don't see the 20% discount anywhere on Music123's website. Is there a special coupon code somewhere?

They are out of stock on the PX800, but they have the comparable YDP160. If they offered 20% on that, I'd snatch it up. Right now, they are pricing it at 1350, which is pretty much what it is priced at everywhere.

"DEALTAKE". The coupon codes are on dealtaker.com

That code is good for 20% off any order with total over (Think) $1000 and 15% off lower priced order. I bought a $120 iten along with my DP and was given 20% off the low cost item too. So the 20% is off the total

But note the Guitar Center will price match and beat Music123 by 10% of the difference. So it works out that GC will be 2% lower then Music123 after the price match.

Thanks, Chris. I had found a CCABIN code posted in another forum, which gives the same dea.l and appears to be working on their site. I am just about to pull the trigger on the order, and only stopped back to see if anyone had advise on headphones, as I thought I might order some at the same time to get the 20% discount on them too. Now you bring up Guitar Center. Uh oh. I may have to head over there and see how that works. Thanks for your help.

Sweetwater has the K240 phone at 50% off. That beats 20%. Both places offer free shipping so there is no reason to combine things into one order.

I just went through this exact same process a couple weeks ago.
