I'm not particularly confident either. I was going to learn my movement for an exam at the end of the year, but have decided not to do exam until next year, so I let my beethoven gather dust. It's not that I haven't been playing, but the wrong pieces... or instrument...

Having said that I did actually do some work on it today (Before seeing this thread!) so maybe I should go and do some more. But I am old and unco!

I happened to have Op27 No2 (moonlight) prepared for the ABF but now it seems it better fits here. Can I join in? When does submission start?

Heck, my son says he'll do the Op. 10 no. 1, third movement. He used to know it and he can resurrect it quickly. This one will probably be just audio and not video (because he'll likely be using the music smile ). If you want, you can also pull the first movement off of his Youtube page.

He has recorded the "Tempest," so that can be submitted any time.

Sure you can join in! Are you doing the entire sonata or just the first movement? Let me know and I'll add you to the list. Submissions begin December 1.

I may (or may not) be too late, but I would like to submit a recording of 'Pathetique' Mvt 2. I should be able to get one done when I go home in a few weeks, I'm sure no one would appreciate a keyboard version with several notes missing!

EDIT: to say that it would only be audio, is that alright?

Great, thanks!

Just the slow movement of Op27 No2, the Adagio sostenuto. I think it's the first part of the piece but the "No.2" above it makes me doubt,

I have been playing only for a number of months now, lessons first two months, then I had to swap out my piano, and now about 3 months practicing on my own and not yet time to pick up lessons again. So I guess I won't be playing that incredibly fast part any time soon

It's a bit early, but we have until the 15th, and believe me, I'll need every moment of that to get it ready. smile

I am getting timed out on my submission. The file is 13 megs. Is this too big?

I reduced the bitrate and file to 6mb but still getting the error message.

The maximum file size you can upload is 25 mb so you should be OK. The difficulties with submission could be due to network traffic. I will check with our network guru.

I got that internal server error message once last night when I clicked on the submission page. This morning I was able to get to it with no problem. It seems intermittent. Do give it another try and if it fails again we'll work out something.

Special instructions for those with YouTube videos
Since the e-cital side currently does not handle videos, you will need to convert your YouTube video to mp3.
1. Please go to http://www.vidtomp3.com/ and follow the instructions for converting video to mp3. It only takes a couple of minutes.
2. Go to the submission page and upload your mp3. Add the link to your YouTube video.

Looking forward to a great e-cital!

I haven't seen the following performers around here in months:
Seabelle
[jane]
tatiana110
dslyecix
guest1013
Oceanix

If you are around and still plan to submit a recording do please check in! We might be missing the 1st movement of the Pathetique, and all of Op. 49 and Op. 31#3.

Only a couple of more days to the "Beethoven Recital".

OK, got a recording of each movement of my sonatina today. I kept getting interrupted - the phone, the kids, the kid's friends. It never stopped. I could never get a take with repeats that I liked so I'm afraid there are no repeats. Mercifully it should be the shortest recital piece going.

I'm going to give it a couple more days in case better ones emerge!

Ah, the old Performance Interruptus! It's so annoying to get 3/4 through your best playing of a piece only to have a siren sound outside, or someone walk in the back door saying, "Hi, what's for dinner!"

Hmm... I've got Für Elise in but might not make it with a Moonlight Sonata recording. I'll try and get it done but haven't been having much luck with it so far. Just a heads-up.

Yay - uploaded. I listened to it again before I submitted and after I got over the "that note's clunky, ouch, what was I doing there" I just thought, "that's pretty". Short but sweet and nevermind that there are doubts about the Sonatina in G's authenticity ..... wink

For those who seldom (or never!) visit Pianist's Corner, you might have missed that the recital is now live:

Beethoven Fest

And I'm not just posting to plug my sonatina wink

Wow, I'm listening to it right now, and I am really impressed by it. Plus, the website itself is really amazing. It's great to see how much work people on this forum are willing to put into this wonderful art form. Great job, everyone!
