Possibly the youngest contributor to the Piano bar?

She needs to work a bit on her stage presence...coughing at the audience is tres gauche! :P Nice bow at the end, however. And I enjoy the encore smile

How cute! How old is she?

Hi

Thanks for that - I have warned her about that before ;-)

Unfortunately she has a bit of a cold - hence the untimely cough.

She's five months old

Such a sweet age...I was doing the same thing with my 7 month old niece on Monday night...she was just fascinated with the piano.

Hope she gets better soon!

She definitely has an affinity for the black keys. I think she's trying to play Chopin's black key etude. Her rhythm is right on the money. I can't wait for my granddaughter to start. She's just 4 months old and just recently discovered the wonders of her fingers.

Still trying to get Scriabin Etude op 2 sounding the way I want it to. Better than last time but still not there by any means.

Happy New Year everybody.

LaValse,

That was well done. Is that a piece that Horowitz played at his concert in Russia where the audience was literally in tears? Also, are you playing on a Yamaha P?? console, circa 1980's? I have the same piano although yours sounds so much better. I primarily use my Roland digital because the Yamaha just sounds too harsh even after a tuning.

I like your recording LaValse despite never heard the song before (I believe at least.) How long you been playing?

I hope you don't mind me asking it here, but what cables would I need to record my playing on my computer? I'm getting slightly confused smirk I've got an usb to usb cable, but that only records midi but I want to record actual playing. It looks like this.

So what do I need to get started to record my not-so-very-good playing on my computer so I can maybe post it here for some advice? smile

Oh, that was very nice La Valse. I don't know the piece, but I thought your phrasing and dynamics were quite expressive. I admire you pianists that can make such nice music out of the classical pieces. Nice way to bridge 09-10.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's 0240am here in Wales and I'm a bit tipsy after the festivitivies...

@Manndrew - I think the piece you are thinking of is possibly this:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq7ncjhSqtk

But you are right, Horowitz (unlike Scriabin) did like playing this piece and a great performance is here:-

@quagles - sorry not sure - this was an acoustic recording - bog standard webcam and edirol r09 recorder spliced together.

hic and happy new year - cathy - hope the band is still going well...

HI LaValse -

Today I am returning to the piano after a fairly lengthy absence, and I find a New Year's present in the form of your posting of the Skriabin piece - that piece is what really lit the piano fire inside me when a friend shared a video of Horowitz playing this about 7 years ago. I knew nothing about piano (or music of any kind) - but that piece touched something deep inside me and I was instantly and permanently hooked. You did a great job with it and thanks for sharing.

Now, if I can just remember where I left my piano ....

Happy new year to all.

Mark, I thought that was her effort to add some vocals to the performance wink

LaValse, I think I heard this piece before, in a movie. I think this piece is hard to play smoothly and you did an a very good job with it and the dynamic is spot on. thumb

Here is my contribution for the first month of the year. Yoohoo !!! Happy New Year everyone.
