Hello guys!
So first of all, my name is Vincent, I'm French and I'm 16.
Well, I've started to play Piano about 6 months ago, and I must say that this is the greatest instrument I've ever tried.
But I've a big problem, called Clavinova.
I've and 22 years old CVP10 in my living room.Even if I like it, I must say that it is hard to use.Keys are...Hard.When I play, my hands are blowed up after 10 mn, which is such a problem.
So I would like to buy another Digital Piano.
I can't get over 2800$ (2000€) , and I must say that the Kawai CN42 seems interesting (only 1400€ in France).
But I need advices. Is there any better piano for that price?
What about Kawai's touch?And sound?
I can't buy an acoustic piano (too bad >< ) so I would like the greatest keyboard I can get. That's the most important point.
If you got any experience about CN42, or any piano you believe I'd better own, I here!
Have a nice day, and sorry for my English, which is a bit limited.
Vincent

I have extensively played the Kawai CN42 at two stores here in Michigan (the average cost here is around $ 1700) and I loved it. The feeling of the action is great, the several piano sounds (classic, modern, electric, etc...) are extremely good, and the amplification is first class (40 + 40 w). If I didn't have already a console dp (Yamaha YDP223) I would have bought the Kawai on the spot.

Hi!
Thank you for your answer!
What about Roland HP203, which is a bit more expensive?

Bonjour Vincent,
(C'est tout de mon francais.) Consider the Kawai CA-51. I played it and the CN series one right after the other, going back and forth, and the touch is MUCH nicer on the CA-51. I also like the sounds better. The price is not much different: I got my CA-51 for 2700 USD.

Yes consider Roland HP-203 and Yamaha CLP-340. These have got to be front runners if you want a console. If you could consider a stage piano you will arguably have access to some much more interesting instruments such as Korg SV-1, Roland FP-7, RD-700GX, Yamaha CP300 and Kawai MP8II. Musik-Schmidt is a good place to check prices out and they have great YouTube presentations too (if you can speak German!).
Good luck,
Steve

Musik-Schmidt is a good place to check prices out and they have great YouTube presentations too (if you can speak German!). Lately they have also done some English-language videos for selected products. But you don't miss much in the spoken German parts of the videos that you couldn't read elsewhere, it's the playing that counts...

Wow thank you for all these answers! So Jaydee, in France , the Black version of the Ca51 is...Expensive.2599€=3750$, while the Cn42 is only 1425€. Even if the touch is better , i can't ask my parents to pay 900€ for hammers^^Even if I think that it must be kinda cool. @Steeve : I don't really like Yamaha's Clp. The 370 would be interesting indeed, because of its keyboard, but it is much more expensive (2599€) too. And yeah I've already checked a lot of Musik Schmidt's videos (Probably the most interesting on You Tube, even if I don't speak German, we can easily guess what they mean). Well, I will try to visit a few music Store, so as to try pianos if I can.But I believe that I will buy the Cn42, mainly because of its price. I will give you a feedback unless I forgot^^ Thank you very much for yours useful answers!! Have a nice day

What about Kawai's touch?And sound?
This question shows me you might be missing something... Each company, Kawai, Yamaha, Roland and the other each make about three different key actions. Each make make 20 different pianos but they put only one of those keys actions in the piano. So you ask "about Kawai's touch?". Kawai makes two very different key actions with different touch. Both are good. But the good news is that once you find that you like Kawai's "AHA IV F" keys then you can look at Kawai's web site and find which of their pianos use those keys. Same if you like Yamaha's "GH" Same applies to sound. Each company has only a handfull ofdifferent sound generation technologies. OK you want a simple answer? If I had your $2800 budget I'd buy a Roland RD700GX. But I had a $1,000 budget so I bought a Yamaha P155. At least here in California you can buy a very good digital piano for half your budget.

Jaydee I had the same experience and I decided to buy the CA-51. Every time I walk away after practicing I didn't even notice it is a digital because the touch is just like a real piano. I don't know why it cost so much in France but maybe you should look at the price of the other colors because the ebony polished is the most expensive one. Joshua
