I have just installed the USB driver on my PC for my Casio 410R digital piano.

Does any one else have this piano and have you installed the driver. The guide book is less than useless for helping me use the midi aspect of my piano.

It has installed a piece of software called 'Music data Management Software' - in this SW there is a button that opens a parameter editor (this bit looks like a mixer - twisty nobs and sliders - is this for messing with the final mix of some sounds)

With a half decent DP do I need a sequencer on my PC and how can I get going with MIDI.

The main focus of this topic is the proper use of the Casio installed stuff.

But general midi advice will be welcome.

Regards

Richard.

I have the North American version of this DP--PX-575R. The Music Data Management Software is for editing the Synthesizer sounds so you can create your own and save them to the registration memory. I'm not sure if there is access to the digital drawbars to edit the organ sounds from it or not. Not sure if it gives access to the built in sequencer. You could probably figure this out by playing with it a little.

Since you installed the driver, you should be able to see your piano in whatever DAW you are going to use. All you need to do is attach a USB cable from the piano to your computer. The benefit of working in a DAW would be inceased polyphony (the piano only has 32 maximum and some sounds are less than that). You can also use plugins called VISTI's that have better sounds than what's on the piano. There have been threads on questions about MIDI that you should be able to find by doing a SEARCH of this forum.
