Hello,

I'm new to the world of digital pianos and just purchases a Yamaha P155. I've been reading other threads about getting studio monitors in order to get a stronger sound than the built-in speakers are capable of providing.

I'm wondering if can somehow find a 2 speakers + base system (maybe something like the Bose CineMate® GS Series II minus all the input/output limitations) that in a small amount of space can give me ALL of the following:

1. Takes the output of the P155
2. Connect to my Macbook Pro so that I can use Logic Studio
3. Serves as a iPod dock
4. Provide a decent sound out of my P1600 blueray player (Samsung Plasma TV sound is horrible)

TIA!

The make the P155 sound best you not only need good monitor speakers but you have to experiment with speaker placement and how they are aimed. You may find you have to turn some small speaker facing the wall, or set a bass speaker under the piano a foot off the floor. It all depends on your room, it's size and what kind of floor you have an 100 other things.

If the speakers are set up well for the P155 then they will not be set up well for the TV set or general music listening. For listening to stereo music there is a fairly specific geometry you need if you want hear the stereo image.

So either you are going to by three sound systems or you can decide what is most important.

Also for a piano you may want the flat and accurate responce of studio monitors but many people think these sound harsh for most recorded music.

The cheapest way to go is buy those AKG K240 headphones while they are still on sale at Sweetwater for $99. You would spend $1K for speakers of quality comparable to the K240.

If you are going to be using the P155 with Logic. Buy a a USB audio interface and connect the monitor speakers to the interfaces monitor out jacks and run the P155 line out in to the interfce then liten using the interfaces internal "zero latency" monitor feature.

Spend $35 and buy a iPod dock from Apple. Any speaker with a built-in dock is not even in the same class as the equipment we are talking about here.
