Is that piece entirely written out or were you using a fake sheet? If it was written out I think I have a better idea about what has influenced your improv technique. I suspect you've played many similar pieces with those types of flourishes and arpeggios? Ah, we can't escape our past...

It is written out. My teacher claimed to have improvised the second strain for Daly and Coward (to whom the piece is dedicated) when they visited him, in the forties I think. Daly liked it and used it. I cannot say if the story is true, but I heard many more unlikely tales from him which later turned out to be correct.
