#1346232 - 01/10/10 09:55 PM YDP160 vs P155.... Built-in petals?!

So after weeks going through topics and threads on the forum (which have been extremely helpful) and testing a few pianos out I think I am leaning towards either the YDP160 or the P155.

I am looking for action/sound as close to a real piano as possible while also looking like one as well (not just a keyboard on an X-stand).

Though it will mainly be a home "console" piano, it would be nice to have some portability just in case. I am drawn towards the 160 as it looks like a "real piano" than the P155 even with the Yamaha stand - I just don't like the look of a wired pedal there on the floor.

Are there stands available for the P155 that allow built in petals and would look like a YDP160? I haven't come across any yet! Worst case, I could build something if anyone has a link or pictures of an example!

Sorry for the long post but I hope you guys can help! Thanks

I'm pretty sure there's not. I guess you could mask the wire along the carpet with some similar colored fabric tape and then run it up the side of the stand. The advantage of the 160 also would be probably better fidelity from the onboard speakers than the p155 has. But the P155 has it's advantages too as you mentioned the portability for one.

Hmmm... thanks! How difficult is the YDP160 disassembly? Is it just unscrewing a few screws?

I don't know; your guess is as good as mine; I'm thinking maybe not quite that easy but i really don't know. The p155 is 4 screws to remove it from the stand meant for it....or you could use another like the quik-lock stand which also keeps it at the correct height. i'd avoid X stands; place the keys about 2 or more inches too high and not adjustable any lower for some odd reason.
