OK, folks -- here's the deal.

At least on my screen, it's exactly as I said.

I wonder if you might have misunderstood what I meant: I was talking about the PIANIST CORNER page. Were you talking rather about the Sub-Forum main page?

I was talking about the new Recordings subforum in pianist corner.

Right.
I was talking about the other thing.

To get to the page you and ChopinAddict were talking about, you need to specifically and individually look for the sub-forum. I'm talking about how it appears on the Pianist Corner page, and the main point on this issue was about giving the stuff better visibility.

As I said, I'm not sure how important this aspect is. All I know is, it's important for me, because it's the usual way that I look for new posts on Pianist Corner (and I imagine others do also), plus that the sub-forum just hasn't been getting a lot of attention.

Moi aussi.
At any rate, I posted the last message so it wouldn't be bold even if the subforum were OK, but from memory I think you are right. smile

OK...

The subforum is very convenient, but I would have preferred to have the existing Member Recordings moved to the main group of fora.

Well, it would probably deserve more prominence...

....and that's the main thing I was expressing. It doesn't need to have any more prominence for someone like you or Horowitzian, because you go looking specifically for the sub-forum. But if someone doesn't -- and pretty clearly most people don't, and the site doesn't much gear us toward doing it -- you just don't know when there are new posts on it, and you can easily sort of forget that it exists.

Yes -- it has more views than I realized. The main page of Pianist Corner shows "101" as the total number of views on the sub-forum. I don't know what the "101" means, but as I look at the main page of the sub-forum, I see that it's much more.

But it looks like we're not far apart on this. We agree that the format right now isn't conducive to drawing attention to the sub-forum.

OK, thanks! My bad!

I didn't notice that the "columns" are different for the subforums (at the top of the page) than for the regular threads (on the rest of the page) -- and so I was thinking that the 2nd column was the number of views.
Thanks!!!

P.S. Regarding the "boldface" thing and how it would be more complex for the sub-forum title than for a 'regular' thread -- it wouldn't really be. I thought it would be because I didn't realize there's a separate main-page for the new sub-forum.

You wouldn't need to do anything else except making the sub-forum title on the Pianist Corner page be boldface when there are new posts (which is what really draws attention to new material when we look at the Pianist Corner page). Clicking on the sub-forum title already takes us to the main page of the sub-forum -- and that's fine.

If you look at the little note pad graphic in the left column, it will be yellow if there are new posts since you last you looked inside. This is viewable from the main PC page.

Yes -- thanks! That will help.
Do you not agree that it would help further to make the title boldface when there are new posts, as is done for thread titles on that page?

I think the Members Recordings Subforum is in the same style as the main page (Forum List: yellow pad, no boldface)....

It is. If there's a lot of boldface support I'll see if it's an option. (I don't know what it would take to modify the forum software to make that happen. Could be easy, could be a pain...)

Sorry I'm not responding much, but I am reading and taking notes!

I think it's great the way it is. It's in a prominent position and as a sub-forum, gives more focus to the entries.

IMO you're responding fine. I didn't expect you to jump in on something like this till it's been rolled around by us a bit.

I don't know, I am looking at it right now, and I actually think it is fine too.... Both options are OK for me, but at any rate I am not bothered by the way it is now.
