Sorry, been really busy lately and I haven't listened yet but will do so.

Lots of gigs and here's a couple of recordings from the last one. These are both trio recordings. I have a little quiet for a couple of weeks.

That's absolutely creative! I play that lick all the time with this tune and who would have thought you could do that!

Thanks Jazzwee! I was just so very tired of playing so many notes, also, there's so many note played in the guys and gals flicks that I felt enough is enough. Hence going all Philip Marlowe . . .

hey everyone, what ballads do you like to play?

I seldom see posts of them here. I did one a week back. Lots of good jazz tunes that are slower...

Me, I like Blame it on my Youth, I fall in love too easily, Never entered my mind, Never let me go, Very thought of you...

Jamie cullum has some cool songs too, I play some of those.

I've always been partial to Blame It On My Youth and Here's That Rainy Day. Lately I've also really enjoyed taking more "up" tunes and pulling them down to ballads. (Even without a singer) this can often seem to put a fresh sort of spin on the lyrics, such as with When The Saints Go Marching In.

Hey Chris
I like your crunchy LH chords very much and your minimalist RH.

Hey Knotty
Gorgeous harmonics, licks and blues

Hey JW
I look forward to listening to your gig tomorrow when I hope to have more time.

Just as we are talking ballads. What great selection this week. Black Orpheus. A very beautiful one with gorgeous harmonies that don't need to be touched. That should be a ball for all pianists.

Black Orpheus will be fun.

Thanks Custard for those kind words.

I know this is a piano forum, but I think you guys would dig to have a listen at these tunes. They're three of the tunes I was proofing (and notating) this last autumn.

Hey Chris
I love Monica's exquisite solo at 5:00 in Ballad for Herbie and Wayne.
Also the brightness of the Yamaha contrasts wells with the mellowness of the bass.

Chris, I can't imagine how great that must feel. The recordings are absolutely spectacular, sound video, the whole things.

Btw, it looks like I will see you for week 1 this time. And to your great despair, my buddy Grant won't be joining us. I will truly miss him.

And on a different quality level, here's Black Orpheus

Lovely piano playing Knotty. Now I play this tune frequently (because it is frequently requested) so I can solo over it in my sleep. But sadly I am out of time.

I could keep on repeating your Black Orpheus, you are so kool with a lot of tunes, especially this one.
Totally one for your next album.

Ok, so here's my take on Orfeu Negro. Straight of the cuff, complete with a Picardy Third:
