Hi everybody,
I'm new on this forum, and I'm French so please forgive my English mistakes ^^
I wanted to know, how is the quality sound when you record piano music via the USB device?
That's to say, once u record what you have played on the piano, then put it on the computer, is the sound as good as when you hear it with the P-155 speakers? or is it a bad one as some piano MIDI records I could hear?
I may buy this piano so I need some advices.
Thanks for the help

Hi - My first post too so...
Well, if you record a song on the P155 then take it to the computer, you will get a midi file. So the quality of the sound will entirely depend on the software used to play the file - the basic Windows soft, or a specific one like midiswing, or whatever midifile player. But basically, if you want to record the played sound, you will need to connect the phones / aux jack to a line in jack of the computer, if it has a specific software like audacity which is libre software or commercial ones like Cubase, Live, etc, or the that of the Hi-Fi tape recorder, old fashion ;-)
Hop it helps

There is no sound recored via USB. MIDI is a record of which keys or pedal you pressed and raised.
Basically what you have is an old paper piano roll in digital form. The sound will only be as good as what you use to play it. The resulting sound can be very good or not.

What kind of a cable would I need to record actual audio from the P-155 to the computer? I already have Audacity installed. I have a P-155 on order though and would like to know ahead of time from a more experienced user what all steps I will have to go through in order to record actual sound to the computer through it, thanks in advance for any help. This will be my first digital piano so I'm a little lost. My end goal though is to just get high quality recordings from the piano to the computer in the form of an mp3, without having to use an actual microphone while picking up background noises etc. Edit: Nevermind, I found a website that explains it all, thanks though! http://www.pianoclues.com/2008/02/15/how...o-the-computer/

The software virtual pianos that run on the computer have very good sound. I think I like "Ivory" the best now but there are many others. I know about the page you linked. It is most ly right but is not targeted at those wanting the best quality. What they left out is the internal sound hardward in most computers is not very good. It would be good to get a USB audio interface. Paces range fro $80 to $200. With Midi and Ivory you shoud be able to do work comparable to the samples here: http://www.synthogy.com/demos/grandpiano.htmlI have a P155. It's good but does not have the range of sounds on the above demo page. You are right about avoiding the microphone and the backgrund noise. A direct connection from Line Out avoids al that but MIDI is a direct digital connection, no analog link. It is direct to a digital audio file.
