hello,
i was contacted by a very close family friend about a lester baby grand piano that was inherited and he has no room and was wondering if i wanted. the grand is 5' 1" around there i think. it has ivory keys and the family bought it brand new around the 1920's i have looked at the piano and played it. the sound is great for being small. but i dont know if it is worth it.

hope to hear
P.S. could you tell me about the brand?

Lester was a good maker, the pride of Philly, but it was no Steinway. Like any piano of this vintage, it could be passable or it could be a disaster, but unless it's been recently rebuilt, it probably won't be fabulous. That doesn't mean that it wouldn't be worth having, just go in with your eyes open. A piano, even if free, can be a money pit. It's not at all unheard of to put $20,000 into a restoration. That of course is the high end. Have it checked by a technician and hopefully it will be a gem. Good luck with it.
