I just wanted to thank everyone for helping me choose a DP. I finally decided on a YDP223 after many, many hours of debating with myself. Unfortunately, I am buying this site unseen since no stores within 100 miles of me has it in stock. I am sure I will be very happy with it from everything I have read. I couldn't get anyone to come down on there price but Kraft Music did match the price of Musicians Friend for $1,495.

You will be happy with the YDP 223. The feeling of the keys when you play (i.e. the action) is like a real acoustic piano, and the piano sounds are very good. The speakers are also excellent and the sound with headphones is absolutely great. More over, this is a Yamaha dp that has proven to be extremely reliable and well built.
It is a great way to have your son starting the beautiful adventure of learning piano.

I've had my YDP 223 for 2 years and has been great so far.
Also bought mine from Kraft and they are great to deal with as I had to return my first puchase of a ydp213 that had a faulty key and they arranged pickup and let me upgrade to the 223 at the same time.
