Spoke to my Yamaha red and ordered the CP1 and CP5 today. I should have the CP1 in about 2 weeks and the CP5 in about 8 weeks.
I've heard enough .... its head and shoulders above anything else.

I bit the bullet too, and bought the Yamaha CLP-340PE! The new piano was delivered today, and it is gorgeous! Plays like a dream, even more than I had hoped for. I have been saving for this piano since last August, and the wait was worth it.

Oh, by the way, I didn't sell my old gear(Kawaii DP100). I gave it to a well deserving young man that loves music and will enjoy the sound that it still has to give.

Wow! Congrats! Just curious about why you want the CP1 and CP5? I know the CP1 piano sounds are superior but the impression I've got from reading yours and others assessments is that the CP5s pianos are still very very good? Are you buying for the studio or stage or both?

I take it you're a full time pro?

Well I'd use the CP1 mostly for studio and the CP5 would replace my RD700GX for stage work ...that's what I'm telling myself anyhow. The truth is I just want them both and I am able to access them so there is no reason why I shouldn't get both.
You are correct in that my business is involved in music production full time both studio and in directing live productions musically. I do also perform live personally when my schedule permits although that has been rare in recent years until the last few months when I have been performing regularly with my old band.

That's what I figured. One for the studio, and one for gigging. I know a number of musicians that use this approach.

I have not heard the CP5 yet, but I bet the new piano card for the RD-700GX will offer a step up and at $300, a very compelling upgrade.

Early adopters tend to pay more than they should, and suffer more with software bugs. The expansion ports in the RD700GX have extended the life of a great product. I will wait for the upgrade.

I don't know about the bugs And I can't comment on my personal arrangement with Yamaha other then to say this early adopter is being well looked after indeed.
