Llew, a prominent New Zealand composer, classical pianist and jazz pianist, was my teacher in my teenage years and later became a close musical friend. He wrote this on board ship during a cruise around Asia with his wife in the fifties. Rickshaw Fantasy

I am pleased you enjoyed it. Llew was a remarkable pianist and musician and a wonderfully unorthodox teacher. In retrospect, I think it a pity he did not write more original piano music for himself but I suppose that was the price of being a professional. Rickshaw Fantasy is fun to play but rather tiring as the finger work has to be played detached, almost staccato. It loses its effect completely if legato is employed for ease of execution.
