Hey everyone, looks like I stumbled across a great forum here! I'm in the market for a digital piano and I've narrowed it down to the 2 mentioned above. My main requirement is that the piano matches (as close as possible of course) the feel of an acoustic. Any recommendations?
Also the korg sp250 has the same specs as the lp350 ... Does anyone know If there is any difference other than the stand & pedal setup?
Thanks in advance! -ali

.. I've narrowed it down to the 2 mentioned above. My main requirement is that the piano matches (as close as possible of course) the feel of an acoustic. I like the Yamahas "GH" key action that is in the YDP160 but there are other Yamaha pianos using the same keys I like better. The P155 has better sound samples and the ydp223 has better speakers and the controls are easier to use. But if you are looking for the best match to the acoustic have you tried the higher end Kawai and Roland DPs? I liked these better but the models I wanted cost double my budget. Yamaha will have a new CP series pianos out soon and also announced plans to refresh the YDP line.

I'd go with the Korg. I played it and the 160, and just found I liked the action better. Granted, that's subjective, but the Korg's RH3 action is equivalent to Yamaha's upper end GH3, which the 160 doesn't have.
But more than that, the Korg has more sounds (if that's important), and you can get them to you by quickly pushing a dedicated button for each sound, as opposed to having to scroll through 10 sounds using up-and-down arrow buttons.
The Korg's also a bit cheaper, if I recall.

Thanks for the advice! i think i will go with the korg after all, but not the lp350, the sp250. it has the same sound/feel as far as i can tell, and i like the portability. thanks again!

Yes, the guts of the SP-250 are the same. Different cabinet and speakers. Through headphones or plugged into a system, they're identical.
