Other notable mentions with some amount of piano playing:

Carole King - "Now It's Too Late Baby" (piano playing interspersed throughout song)

Aretha Franklin - Her version of "Say a Little Prayer" where you can hear her playing the piano in the song's intro. Also "Never Loved A Man" she gets into her piano playing.

Roberta Flack - "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and her version of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow." She accompanies herself throughout these songs.

Lionel Richie - Songs like "Three times a Lady", "Easy Like Sunday Morning" come to mind. I think you can hear him playing the piano a lot in the ballad songs he did while he was still with the Commodores and when he went solo.

Marvin Gaye - On his "What's going on" album you can hear him playing throughout the album. Also in the song "Trouble Man" you can hear him playing the piano throughout the song.

Oooh, I forgot about Carole King! Which is silly because I have the score book that goes with the album Tapestry, the arrangements are great, piano w/ vocals. I love the bass notes in the music, and her voice in the melody. I should play one of those, maybe this summer. I noticed that SheetMusic Plus sells the Regina Spektor songbook, and it includes the Genius Next Door. I would like to look at the arrangement though, which SMP doesn't make possible yet.

Great song! One of my all-time favorites.

For those of you who have played some of these pieces, I'd love to know which sheet music version you used. I have been wanting to play Bruce Hornsby's The Way It Is, but I can't quite decide if the downloadable version sounds good enough to try. Any other ideas on the pieces mentioned in this thread would be appreciated!

My first post - hello everyone! I've just started playing piano and really only know pop music so have been trying to learn some easy pieces to start with - predominantly slowish songs that just have one riff repeated throughout - but not exclusively. These are the three I'm currently working on - they're pretty naff but I like them.
