The HD 600 I have, have never got any issue, whatsoever. Bought them in 2004, so we're counting more than 5 years. Not continuous use, but certainly a lot. No pads, no cables, nothing needs changing. I actually have no doubt that they will bury me with these! High(er) priced headphones to withstand the passage of time, along with good use. It's not the small ipod ones which you can change at a bymonthly bases. +1 I have had mine for going on 10 years. Best piece of audio kit I ever bought in my life.

+1
I've had mine for at least 10 years.
And parts are still easily available!
(Bought a new cable last year. The original eventually failed because of my mistreatment.)

Thanks alot bitWrangler. This sheds some light on something that got me worried. I kind of understood that the values were not clear cut and not necessarily textbook defined but thought that there was some strict line between right and wrong.

I have a Bayerdynamic DT 770 Pro/80 bought 4 months ago for $180. It has great reviews but somehow I’m not too happy with it. It doesn’t sound as real as the sound I hear from my DP. The sound from speakers seem warmer and more like a piano but once I plug this headphone in, it sounds a bit fake and sharper, not as warm.
Maybe my DP is a cheap one and that’s the cause (ancient Viscount Classico 50). If it sounds like this on a nice DP, say a Yamaha or Roland, then I definitely don’t think it’s a good buy.
Anyone knows if a not well built DP (e.g. not good headphone lineout) has bad effects on a good pair of headphones? Any owns this one? What’s your experience?
