I am SO sorry. I spent three hours doing what I thought was recording today and got home to discover that I have no recordings on my zoom. I'm heartbroken. Not that the performances were so great, but at least I would have had something.

If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.

Oh, I feel so bad for you frown I know, from firsthand experience, what this is like. Others know too frown

If you want to try again, take as much time as you need. We'll work the wording on the page in such a way that people will know your recording will be in.

Again, I truly feel for you.

Oh rustyfingers,

I feel for you too. After a marathon-length recording session, I finally did what I thought was the take, only to discover my Zoom said "Card Full." frown

So to you and all of us, let's keep the faith! It needn't be perfect (ha! as if!). We're all in this together. We can do it!

Oh, no! I've had experiences like that, too, where I was sure I had pressed the red button on the Zoom but it turned out that it was still blinking at the end of my best take yet and nothing had been recorded... owww. But if you've done pretty good takes so far, you will be able to do it again, and we'll be glad to listen no matter what! Sincere best wishes!

I know I hit the button twice. I thought maybe the card was full, but it says there is 50% left. Tis a mystery. At any rate, I won't have a chance to record again until next week. So sorry to let you all down. Happy Birthday Chopin!

Rustyfingers, I didn't mean you had done something as dumb as I did! Dang! These machines have their limitations, don't they. Gerg, can the pieces that aren't making it in today, though the players did their level best, possibly get in for March 1?

Definitely!

The ones in now will be announced for tomorrow, but the rest... March 1 it is, even for Mazurkas. So, an extra week.

Great idea, Elene! thumb

I would be a complete hypocrite to be disappointed that those who have promised to take part, are so late with their submissions. The only time I intended to play for one of these ecitals I flunked at the last minute. But, dear people, do try to get your recordings to gerg as soon as possible, even if a few hours late. He has worked so hard on this. And, above all, Chopin deserves it.

Happy birthday, Chopin!

It is up!

Please note, because I didn't know about turning off caching when we did the new page in October, changes (i.e. the new Mazurkas!) may not show up unless you first "clear history" or "clear cache" from the browser.

This has been corrected, but your browser may still have the old page so you may have to do this once to get things to show up the first time.

Fine, fine work by our performers!

For others who didn't make it, you needn't wait a year; you can if you like send your Mazurka in sometime this week to be posted on 1 March.

Thanks everyone! heart

Thanks Gerg & Mary Rose!

I trully enjoyed Mati's, Mistaya's and Chardonnay's playing. I love how mazurka can be be mystical, tragic and lively and you guys delivered them.

I'm new to classical music and got really hooked on Chopin. Can't wait to hear more next week!

I attempted to record my Polonaise over the weekend and did pretty poorly. I didn't have the stamina and couldn't concentrate =( I will redo the recording this weekend.

Greg-
Forgive me if I missed something (or if this is already in progress): but will there be a separate thread announcing the e-cital, with the website link?

My chances of getting a recording of Op. 15 No. 1 are looking pretty bleak; I haven't gotten around to ordering a Zoom H4n in time and school is pressing me on all sides. I'll see what I can do later this week, though. frown

Very nice new poster! and 4 very fine performances to start out the first day of this 200th Chopin birth-week.

You, my friends, are fantastic! We had a small turnout this time, but the quality of all four performances more than makes up for the lack of volume.

Ab-ster captures the deep and haunting angst of the Winter in the Op. 17 piece.

Mistaya plays with such playful and Springlike felicity.

Chardonnay plays a nostalgic Summer afternoon with her performance.

And Mati brings out the Polish flair that seemingly only a Pole can in this minor-key yet (to my ear) joyful dance, evocative of an Autumn harvest festival.

All four of you - you have done our friend proud! thumb

I've got some more mazurkas for you - I completely missed whatever announcement went out for them - where and how do I send them in?

Hail, Schubertian! Here's the address (I don't want it to become a spam target, hence the image).

Carey, the e-mail address is in the post right above yours. Congratulations on finishing your recording of a substantial piece.
