http://fundamentalkeys.com/preview.htmli am thinking of ordering it for my niece who is learning very quickly. I have plenty of method books Schuam, Thompson, Bastien,others.. All in one Adult Comprehensive (bastien?) (i bought a piano teacher's library). If you'd care to check it out, I'd appreciate it. I happen to be 3 steps connected to Rachel (if you know what that means)

I'm quite certain Rachael approves of it!

It looks like a good introduction to basic music reading that's geared towards visual learners.
The kinesthetic learners will probably get fidgety wading through 29 pages of explanation before playing their first piece, but that's easily rectified by a resourceful teacher. (And I'm sure Rachael has ways of dealing with that, plus the introductory exercises are also helpful in that regard.)

I started using that book this spring with a bunch of beginner students. I haven't found one so far who hasn't done very well with it, so far. I have my own copy now and refer to it often. An enthusiastic 15 yr old even told me what a "great teacher" I was, his eyes light up as we do each lesson from the book and he begins to connect the dots. I told him I'd take the compliment and run with it, but that it really was the book that was well laid out. I do supplement with ear training, and improv, and I also do my own scales fingering, I didn't like what she had at the end of the book for the scales.

I started using that book this spring with a bunch of beginner students. I haven't found one so far who hasn't done very well with it, so far. With this double negative, I'm not entirely certain, but I think you mean "I have found all (my students) have done very well using it, so far."

Yup...I was distracted and in a hurry when I wrote all that LOL
