I am thinking of buying a 'Yamaha Clavinova CLP120 piano' (used $1100 Can.) or a new Yamaha YDP 160 ($1299 Can). - which do you think is a better piano? Thanks Trevor

The CLP120 came out in 2002. Old. One-level sampling.

The YDP160 came out in 2008. Three-level sampling. Much better.

If you can work a MUCH lower price on the CLP120, it would be a useful piano. If not, the YDP160 would be a better choice. At $1100 CAD, the used CLP120 is priced much too high.

That old CLP is priced to high. The YDP160 is a better piano and has a warranty. I think it is worth the extra $200.

However if the seller would price the CLP closer to what it really is worth then it would be harder to decide as it is not a bad piano if the goal is learning to play.

For some reason sellers think about what they paid for a piano when new when setting their asking price. No one should care what the new price was. All that matters is what else that money could buy.
