Hi, All... I'm a newbie here, found it from the book by Perri Knize, "Grand Obsession"...
I just sold an old Steinway upright ("Early American").. I loved it very much and have been shopping for another piano.. I picked out a Steinway 45-10, and while there is a saga behind why I haven't received it yet, I'm wondering if anyone has anything to say about that piano.
I realize these pianos are all very individual in their tone and feel, but generally, is there anything I should be 'aware' of about this piano? It's 6 years old, sounded pretty good...
(Is this the right place to post this question?)...

Looking forward to making friends here and happy to find myself here!

Joe

The 45-10 is the same piano on the inside as the 1098 but with a more stylish cabinet. Free standing legs and a pull forward music desk. Typically sold in walnut or mahogany. Middle pedal sostenuto function was an optional feature. Certainly S&S quality and materials. S&S has always been more famous for their grands. Absent the space and budget for an S&S grand, the 45-10 is a wonderful upright.

Marty's assessment is right on. Persons get confused sometimes when they see the 45 ,marking on the pinblock and cast in the plate of a 1098. Nice piano! Don't see as many preowned ones as the 1098 in the marketplace. wink

Thank you for your feedback.. I think I may have chosen the "wrong" 45-10.. The touch and sound of this particular one just seems so "delicate and fragile", and seems to lack some of the "warm and woody" sound I tend to gravitate towards. But it's S&S, so I can always choose again since they have a good lifetime policy.
