Hi there, how coarse (or rather fine) sand papers are you normally using out there around the world?

Juergen may be shy about mentioning it, but he has some excellent 3M film-backed paper, along with a plexiglas tool with a sandpaper strip in the center for precision hammer/string mating. Right now it's here on his site: http://www.pianofortesupply.com/specialsmonth.html--Cy--

I have some of Jurgen's sand paper. It really is great stuff. Andre Ooerbeek uses it too.

All good suggestions here. The paper that Jurgen sells is primarily for polishing crankshafts, but it is good stuff and doesn’t wear out for a long time.
Patrick before you use the sandpapers that Bob suggested here is something you might want to try. Take some of the green contact cement, the water based stuff made with latex rubber, and paint a light coat on the back. This will help to prevent it from tearing when you form it around the hammer head and are shaping/removing felt material.
The paper that Jurgen sells already has a backing. This is part of what makes it such a good product.
