...on a new RX-7 and RX-5 at my local dealer. Plastic still on cases. Both are from another out of business Kawai dealer that were re boxed and sent to this Jersey dealer.

PM me for price if your interested and in the area.

I have no affiliation with this dealer, just would like to help someone looking for a great deal.

Odd that the other dealer pulled them out of the boxes to put on floor, but left the plastic on floor display models.

Posting dealer prices around here is frowned upon...

And why would it be "creepy"...a little melodramatic...

My local dealer leaves the plastic on parts of the cases all the time.

I didn't think so. Dealers themselves can't do it, but I thought we could.

Although I'd probably seek the permission of the dealer.

When I recently bought a piano (which happened also to be a Kawai), I asked if he minded if I posted all the details, and he said fine.

Anyway......you're saying they're great deals. I don't know how much further you'd be going in posting the prices.

In his defense, when I posted how much I payed for my shigeru my salesman for lack of a better term politely came after me with some questions, but thats only because of the price I got on it. (really low)

There is always a potential conflict between dealers, many of whom shudder at the mere thought of price posting, and interested consumers, who eat it up. As a general rule, we have no prohibitions against posting a price that you have paid. Real facts are fine. It's more helpful if you accompany those facts with all the other pertinent facts, such as where you bought the piano, whether it had been on the floor a long time, its condition etc. Dealers have a well founded dislike of anonymous posts about 'screaming deals' because they have to fend off every yahoo who believes what they read and/or who thinks that one deal once consummated under very special circumstances somewhere in Peoria, must also apply to them in Atlanta. Screaming deal posts can also be strategically placed here by dealers under false pretenses to screw up their competitors. That is frowned upon.

Mark is a long time poster. We trust him ...... I think. smile

I will add that 3 weeks ago, in Texas, I looked at and played one of the 6-11 Yamahas which I believe are handbuilt (S7?????). It had a price tag on it and I was up front with the salesman that I was not interested. He asked for my phone number and I gave it to him. He called me a week later and told me Yamaha had authorized him to release the piano. The price he quoted me was 43 percent of the one on the tag.

I'm just sayin'!

One major problem is posting extra-ordinary prices (in this case the pianos were re-packs from an out-of business dealership) is that local dealers can't match the price. This creates unreasonable expectations among current shoppers.

They think their local dealer is ripping them off, when in fact, in addition to having different overhead, investment, etc., they had to pay more for the same model.
