Dear sellingbuyingpiano,
Without commenting on your offers, what for you constitutes the better deal? Is it simply % off MSRP? If so, you can consult Piano Buyer price guide. And remember local taxes & delivery are not the same in all areas. Here in Atlanta, we have at least 3 different tax rates. On a $25k purchase, that could mean $500 variance based on only a couple of miles. Also, is the piano black? satin or polish? etc. All are factors into your offer.
However, "deal" means different things to different people. You might reduce your question to...I've narrowed down my decision to 2 Boston models, the 178 & 193. I have room for the larger size, but is it worth $5400 more? More information will get you much more helpful responses. Instead, you may be told all other pianos you might purchase for under $30k. That would be my first reaction to your post because in that price/size range, Boston is a good choice, but hardly the only choice.
I'm sorry, but I feel "pure price posting" is the least effective way to get advice. Those offers are less than MSRP, so you're not being overcharged. At this point, that is about all the help I could offer. I will follow this post if I can be of more help later.

OK, I'll bite. In these harsh economic times, I think that you should go for the less expensive but still adequate model.

15 cm difference is probably somewhat significant, particularly with regard to the low bass tone quality. Is it enough to justify the price difference to you?
As mentioned above, it's easy enough to look up the prices...What do you think of the pianos?

Do the Boston Piano models warrant the premium over the same size Kawai models even though they are both made by Kawai? How much different are they in sound and function? Just wondering. Thanks.

Watching from the sidelines as neither a Boston or Kawai dealer, these two brands were once remarkably similar. Many of the requests that Steinway made for the Boston line were simply incorporated into the RX line as well. However, the two lines seem do be diverging at a faster rate. This may be substantial or may be marketing yet again.
Kawai chose to develop their composite action while still building the wooden parts for Boston. New Kawai RX is now Blak and newest Boston is now PE. The new Boston PE mentioned maple rims as a change. I'm sure their are others. Also, only some of the model sizes line up. This makes for different sound & feel.
Most technicians I've spoken with treat them as equivalents. It's hard to find an objective observer who who can substantially rate one above the other for quality. If you prefer the Boston, then you'll have to pay the premium. I have my preference, but in some cases it is model by model, not brand-wide.

Are these brand new piano? Is it 2010 or 2009 model? I'm in the same situation. I heard that because Boston improved several parts for the 2010 model, they raised MSRP by about 17% over their 2009 model.
