Hi

I haven't come trough this page because I broke my wrist a few time ago.

I'm not a professional piano player, but I know enough to make a piano sound good, but now with my wrist acting a little weird I cant play like before!!!! I'm getting scared because I cant play what I played before my broken wrist.

I need some lessons with my wrist, what can i do to make it play like before!?!? Arpeggios? Scales?

I will appreciate your help, for more information now my wrist turn more to left and a lot less to right.

Thanks for your time and opinions

Cheers

You need to strenghten up your wrists by doing some simple exercises: -
Always warm up with scales before playing for a long period...If your wrist is hurting then avoid arpeggios for now and concentrate on normal scales, but maybe only do one octaves for now. Also remember to keep your fingers curled and your arm relaxed.
Make sure you have your seat in the correct position.
Also get one of those sqeezy balls or a sponge and practice sqeezing this with your wrist - it will help to strengthen it.

For starters, don't panic. I broke a finger just after graduating from college and spent a summer wearing a cast from my right elbow down to the knuckle. I spent that summer working on my left hand and when the cast came off and I tried playing with my right...I panicked! My wrist/hand was so weak, but after a few weeks it was as good as new again. Just go about things slowly, don't force anything, and work in spurts. I realize it's your wrist that you broke, which is, certainly different than a finger, but, if you give yourself enough time, you'll be fine.

You might try DMSO on the break area to help with the strengthening and healing process, you can find it in a health food store. Also essential oils from an aroma therapist so that you get theraputic grade oils can do wonders with something like this. Just don't over do too quickly so that you do further damage or get set back. Nothing takes the place of time and rest. Soaking your wrist in water as hot as you can stand it for 1-2 minutes and then placing it directly in a basin filled with ice and water for 1-2 minutes and alternating back and forth 5 or 6 times, ending always with cold water also speeds healing twice as fast. You can rotate your wrist gently in the basin while you do it.

Thanks for your tips, I tried what Roxy told me and it helped me enough to seat again in the piano twice per day to practice some basic scales, right now I feel like I'm going crazy because my left hand is tooo much faster than my right thanks to the broken wrist, But the real reason why I'm scared is because I broke my wrist like half year ago, and I'm trying to make my wrist back 1 month ago but I just feel it to lazy.

But I have faith with what you people told me and thanks stores to make me feel that I can beat this one up

I hope I can make it back to play like before again frown

Thanks for your opinions they helped me a lot.
