Thanks Mark!

Read back through this thread and you'll find a discussion about time taken but it will vary tremendously depending on ability and time you can put into it. I took nearly 2 years on the first book but I had long gaps where I didn't play at all so I had to relearn much of what I'd already learned.

I've been in Book 3 for awhile (around page 35-ish) but just discovered this thread.

Thank You!

Congratulation to you for moving on to Book 2! I see that you are working on "Light and Blue". I really liked that piece at the time.

You're welcome Carol and Mom3gram! You need to paste the address of the image into your sig with image tags, so for the level one pic it will be [img]http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/6058/alfredslevel1.jpg[/img] Level two will be [img]http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/8835/alfredslevel2.jpg[/img] and level 3 would be [img]http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/4231/alfredslevel3.jpg[/img] to get the image address you right click on it and choose copy image address on a Mac, I imagine it's something similar on windows, possibly right click and choose open image in new window or similar, then you can copy the address from the address bar. They're only hosted on imageshack at the moment, I don't know how permanent that is.

Sorry that last post is a mess, I disabled UBB code so the code would be displayed and you can copy it but that seems to have messed up my paragraphs too!

Hope you can figure it out! Just copy the address and include the img tags including the square brackets and paste it into your signature.

I just modified my signature to include my Level Two. Since the characters were getting close to (and over) the 300 I just made one image to hold my MOYF, Recital Medals and the new Alfred Grad..

Mark,

May I please be added to the list of grads for Alfred's Adult All-in-One. I began the book (my teacher selected it) at the end of January '09 & completed it in February of this year. Actually 2.5 months should be taken off of this time as 1.5 month was spent practicing for my first ever recital (a complete & utter disaster, have the video to prove it, unfortunately), plus another month lost when I had to look after an ill relative.
Currently I'm on book 2 playing Guantanamera, plus practicing Introduction and Dance & a duet version of Dvorak's Songs my Mother Taught Me for, yup, another recital on May 23. I'll be playing all 3. Hopefully this time I won't freeze & my hands won't be trebling like an aspen. Yet, I no problems speaking in front of several hundred people or teaching aerobics or tai chi.

Question: Are there others out there who find it hard to play on an unfamiliar piano or get thrown off by the various shadows that stage lighting can cast on to the piano? What about having to play right after some really good young (6-8 yr. old) kids? I honestly was intimidated by them even though they & I are beginners. Am I beginning unreasonable?

2picky4most, it takes guts to go out in front of a group and play, I haven't done it yet myself. Playing strange pianos with a different environment is a challenge. Keep it up, I'm told it gets better the more you do it.

I'll add you to the list...congrats!

Mark...
