Hi everyone,
What do you use to clean keys with?
Before I sit down to play I always wash hands. It has been 2.5 months as I have been playing the instrument, and I feel I need to clean the keys.
Thanks!

I don't clean my keys, just close the lid when you're not playing. I do reckognize the handwashing though.

I considered making a little tool to clean keys once, but never got around to making/testing it.

My idea was to get a sponge (Or something similar) that would span from C to B, and make cut-outs where the black keys would be.

That way it'd be easy to quickly dust off all the keys, even the tricky to reach edges!

But as I said, it's still on my "To do list" as of yet, so I can't tell you how well this works!

If you try it, let us know how it worked out!

I put just a drop of detergent in a gallon or so of water, a very dilute solution, Dip a hand towel in that then wring it out so the towel is just damp and leaves no water behind as I wipe a surface. I'll use this first on the piano keys then nearby table tops and then finally as the towel is getting more dirty the floor.

The keys on most digital pianos are just plastic, no special cleaner is required.

If you've got the hand washing down, I'd recommend plain water on a damp towel to pick up dust. If your keys are feeling oily, ChrisA's dilute soap would be preferred. Basically if it's dust, a damp towel will pick it up without a problem. If it's oil, a little bit of detergent will help get it off the keys.

A microfiber cloth works great for oily keys. It has to be a variety that's soft enough to also fit between the black keys, though.
