Cool! I got my account approved from days of waiting! So this is my first post, pianoworld. Can anybody please help me? I'm looking for a piano piece... that relatively starts soft and slow, which eventually becomes fast and exciting somewhere in the middle, and ends with a bang!/climactic finish. The difficulty of the piece is not an issue hehe. Thanks, I hope you guys can help me out!

Welcome to the Piano World!
The first two pieces that came to mind for me were Rachmaninoff Prelude in C# minor, and Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody #2. Let's see what others have to say.

What do you mean that the difficulty of the piece is not an issue? Are you so advanced that technical difficulties are not a challenge for you? If you are capable of playing any repertoire, regardless of difficulty, you shouldn't have much difficulty making a selection.
What other pieces have you recently played, and played well?
Regards,

Vallee d'Obermann from Liszt definitely fits your description I would think.
Slow opening section, an intense octave-heavy Recitativo in the middle, and finishes with a bang too.
Bruce brings up a relevant question though if you're intending to actually select one of our suggestions to learn. There's some very advanced repertoire being suggested here.

All the Chopin ballades pretty much work that way.
Also check Scriabin's Vers la Flamme and the 4th sonata.

......I'm looking for a piano piece... that relatively starts soft and slow, which eventually becomes fast and exciting somewhere in the middle, and ends with a bang!/climactic finish...... I'm surprised nobody asked this: WHY? Isn't anyone else curious why someone would have those specific specifications? I am. And BTW then we might be able to do a better job with suggestions.

From the fact that he also said, "The difficulty of the piece is not an issue hehe," my guess is that he is not going to be playing the piece, but will be using a recording -- perhaps as suitable background music for part of a play or film he is producing.

I think you're exactly right that it's something like that.

I've heard this many times and, in my opinion, is some of the best Chopin I've ever heard (as is the rest of his playing from that DVD). Zimerman, is simply phenomenal.

How about Ballade 4 by Chopin?
I've heard this many times and, in my opinion, is some of the best Chopin I've ever heard (as is the rest of his playing from that DVD). Zimerman, is simply phenomenal. I heard him play that same Ballade live just a few years ago. It was every bit as moving and electrifying as that video, even though so many years have passed since it was filmed. It was easily the best recital I've ever attended.

Hi Guys! Thanks for all your suggestions. I am familiar with some, like Rachmaninoff Prelude in C# minor, Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody #2, La Campanella, and Chopin Etude op.25 no.11. As for the rest, I think I will enjoy listening to them later. I really appreciate you guys helping me out. What do you mean that the difficulty of the piece is not an issue? Are you so advanced that technical difficulties are not a challenge for you? If you are capable of playing any repertoire, regardless of difficulty, you shouldn't have much difficulty making a selection.
First, I apologize for not realizing that my previous statement "the difficulty of the piece is not an issue" would hold a connotation that I have an advanced piano playing ability. I didn't mean it that way. My statement just simply meant that your suggestions doesn't have to necessarily fit a particular skill set. Initially, I just wanted to hear some new piano pieces and the description were based on my current mood. LOL. But it doesn't mean I might not decide to learn them in the future though.
