Did you notice that it is a "steinway yamaha upright"?

That must be why it costs $20,000. Steinway Yamahas are incredibly rare.

Well, not exactly a blooper since it was placed intentionally, but I just stumbled across this blatant sales lie.

"Wurlitzer black spinet piano plays like a steinway piano. must see to believe."

I WISH a $400 piano played like a Steinway. I'd have one in every room!

Insofar as the keys go down and sound comes out - beyond that no guarantees!

Is having the lid like that bad for a pianos brace or something? I kind of have always wondered this!

Many early harpsichords had the full length lid like a piano would if the fold was left closed.

Is it only there to have a full music rack?

That configuration might even enhance projection into the hall if used in performances.

I once was the unfortunate owner of a Wurlitzer spinet... it wasn't bad, as in it wasn't deplorable, but bad is all relative. The action slipped alot, and the softer you played it the better it sounded, or the less bad it sounded.

I have never played a Wurlizter spinet that plays as beautifuly as a nicely tuned and regulated Steinway grand. However, I've played a few Steinways that were not taken care of that played almost as good as my old Wurlizter spinet!! laugh

And, nobody seemed to notice, they said, "Must SEE to believe" which seems to beg the question, what about HEARING it??? Would you believe then??

Me thinks not.

My neighbor/aunt has a wurlitzer spinet that sounds better than her Conn console!

My uncle on my dads side of the family has a 1950s Wurlitzer spinet that has this really nice looking and sweet sound.

The only spinet I would ever buy would be a Wurlitzer. smile

"Museum quality, early upright, made in England, entirely made of wood--keys, pedals and tuning pegs-- all in excellent condition"

I found this at PMart today.

A new PMart blooper from today!

That's great Rod. A Steinway "Zero" [look at typeface] (presumably a model O vs L...L was made in 1928). Oh, wait...let me guess - it's a Hamburg!

I saw what looked to be a small square piano for sale in an antique shop recently. The sign said "Spinet piano". As I was looking at it, the salesman said it was all original, but it didn't have the pedals. "The pedals?", I asked. "You know, to pump it with.".

I peeked underneath, and the bottom of the keybed sloped down from front to back. I touched one of the keys, felt the action, and told him, "This isn't a piano, it's a reed organ.".

He took the sign away to fix it.

Hey! somebody hijacked pics 1,3 and 4 from my featured pianos on my website. Thought they looked a little to familiar mad Pic 1 is a 2001 B, Pic 3 is a 2005 M. Pic 4 is a 2008 Hamburg B.
Those pianos were sold quite some time ago. "Maybe I'll call the seller and see if I can buy them back".

Our craigslist is full of this stuff are other cities as bad as ours?

I wish craigslist would make phone numbers mandatory.

Craigslist is the wild west. Have you seen some of the "goods" and "services" you can "obtain" there? Generally, to buy something off craigslist you need to know more about the item than the seller...or it needs to be cheap enough to take a risk.

Your image theft story is frustrating. We've experienced that, too. Just a few years ago, we had our entire site pirated. Another piano company copied our whole design, changed just a few pictures and words. We found out about it because they didn't even bother to change the phone number. That's right, they kept our toll free number and we got calls from people looking for this other piano business. I thought that was both bold and dumb, yet at the same time strangely flattering.

I have looked at several pianos through craigslist, and almost all of them were not properly described in the ads, and I was disappointed when I got there.

But I sure was not disappointed in the Baldwin Grand I got. smile
