I'm sure I can. Although my friend played for him in a masterclass and said it was a waste of an hour. I was there and it was true..

Besides, I have a pretty awesome teacher.

We went from discussing Youtube comments to arguing about Lang Lang. Back on track:

So this guy first of all says Hamelin sucks and Richard Clayderman is the best. Then I say "Hamelin doesn't suck, he just played this too fast in this performance, and in other performances since then, he has straightened it out and plays it better." And then he starts ripping on me, so I just blocked him and deleted his comments off of my video. laugh

I love Youtube, but I still don't understand why people insist on being such JERKS.

I think the Lang Lang conversation just degenerated into youtube comments... laugh

There was/is, actually, quite a bit of speculation that, Rubinstein, did have homosexual encounters, and, on more than one occasion.

Of course the real question is, "does it really matter?" I couldn't care less what his (or Horowitz's or any other musician's) preference was.

In general.

I hope I fall into the "in general" category. smile As I've posted before, I went to a Lang Lang concert last year, and was deeply impressed by the nuance and color of his interpretation. He played an exquisite, glimmering Schubert late A major sonata. He played a vigorous, exciting Bartok sonata. I don't suffer fools-- especially with late Schubert. This was a thoughtful performance, played with integrity. (Although then, yes, he played the Heroic Polonaise like a fool, in a silly, throw-away fashion that I hated.)

I'd say equally positive things about his Haydn C major sonata available on YouTube.

I'm repeating myself from before... but when the anti-LL sentiment gathers every so often, I feel the need to keep alive the minority opinion!

Nor do I care. Makes not one bit of difference to me.

Jason, I too have heard things of his I like. Like that Barenboim masterclass. But when he plays like he's on something I'm really disappointed..

Do you think he dared with, Barenboim, sitting there? I can hear DB, with that accent, "Interesting. Why, may I ask you, do you do all this craziness?"

Great first post! Welcome to Piano World.

Just another observation on this phenomenon:
There's always an A-**** on the internet

I like his response -- "You really don't have the resources to give me a piece of your mind. You might need it for something important like regulating your body temperature." thumb
