I have finally gotten my "new" (new = newly bought) piano home. It feels good to see the beauty standing in the living room.

It turns out that my stairway has a turn that is just barely wide enough to squeeze it in. It cost me an additional $200 (for a total of $500, tips extra) just to have it danced around that turn keyboard first. Other than that, everything goes smoothly.

Now about the piano, I have got a lot of help and valuable information from people here in the process. I am very grateful about that. I will write up my experience in another post later, and hope it will benefit other people.

The piano I got is a K. Kawai RX-5 built in 1999 (first sold in 2000). It looked beautiful, and my pianist friend who checked it up and played it told me it sounds good. What made it even better, I got it for a bit over $11,000 from a private seller.

I will share you a picture when I have it. Hooray!

Congrats - watching a piano come into one's home can be a bit scary - glad you have such a fine piano - hope you have many years of enjoyment with it.

Congratulations! That is a beautiful piano, which will give you years of happy playing. I'd be nervous as all get out having them move a piano up a flight of stairs, and then to have a bend in the stairs too! Wow!

Hope you don't have to move anytime soon!! Moving a grand gets to be an expensive, not to mention nerve wracking, undertaking.

We're looking forward to seeing your new companion. ;-)

Isn't it 'grand' to have it finally under your fingertips?

Yeah, sounds like a good deal for sure. RX-5 and above are hard to find used, too.

Congrats.

It is indeed wonderful to have it home.

But strangely, I found the 6'6 Kawai does not sound as loud to me as the old Samick upright. Maybe it is the size of the room and the placement (they are in different houses).

The Kawai does have a much nicer sound.

HI THERE!

You got a great deal--minus of course the extra dancing involved in the move-- who cares... your piano is HOME! Congratulations! You're going to love that piano.

KILLER-- shortened from Benjamin Kim's name "Kawai Killer RX 6 in Sensational Satin Ebony" came home 14 days ago. I have not missed one day being at the piano, playing misty eyed and absolutely delighted each time.

When you find a great piano it just defies description when it arrives. I have the delivery on tape. No pics yet, have to find a non-black/contrasting long dress for our next shoot for the website-- in a few weeks.

Give your new baby some love from me and from Killer!

Congratulations!!
You bought a wonderful piano, and You'll enjoy it more and more every day. At least, that's the effect my RX 5 is doing to me since it came home last september :-) (I'm not sure this is entirely english language, but I hope it's understandable...)

It seems strange that the RX 5 has less volume than a vertical: probably it depends on the different rooms in which you play them.

Enjoy, and post pictures!!
Paolo
