I recently had to replace my computer and among may other sorrows lost a very nice pdf chart of pieces listed alphabetically by composer with the suggested grade level. I originally got it from Piano World. I can't seem to find it now. I'd appreciate it if anyone who has it would send me a link. Thanks.

I printed the handy pdf and wrote this url on the back of one sheet:
www.pianoworld.com/uploads/files/GradedPiecesSortedByDifficulty.pdf

but it says "link appears to be broken" when I type this address in.

Hopefully someone else has this and can correct the address?

Hi Barb and John - Thanks to you both- Barb, that's the list - too bad the link's broken. John, it was a similar sort of list but much more extensive. I'm hoping someone else might've saved it as I did. I'd had it for several years.

www.pianoworld.com/Uploads/files/Graded Pieces Sorted By Difficulty.PDF

post number 410174 1-2-08 by Debussy20 is the one I'm thinking of that's in alphabetical order by composer.
I keep trying to type in this address but it doesn't work,
but, when I found Debussy20's post and clicked on the address there, it comes right up.
How I found it: in the google search engine, I typed in "piano world forum uploads files graded pieces sorted by difficulty pdf" and Debussy20's post came right up.

If this is the one you want in the first place. Thanks for yours, John, I printed it out, too cool

It's a useful list but the two pieces I'm currently working on are not listed, which I find surprising, given their popularity:
1. Schubert Impromptu Op 90 No 3
2. Brahms Intermezzo Op 118 No 2

It's an interesting list, but grade 1 does not correlate to what most teachers consider grade 1.

In the Piano Repertoire graded series, these pieces fall between level 2 and level 4. There is, of course, a primer level preceding, and it assumes a year or two of elementary methods.

This is for children. For adults, I find we can generally get to this level 1 in perhaps six months to a year.

I think that this list originated from one of the posters on pianostreet, a piano teacher Bernard.
The grade 1 means ABRSM grade 1.

What does grade "U" mean? It is undergraduate level?

Interesting list - but as always wih these things there are a few that look out of place to me.

CPE Bach - "Solfeggietto" for example is listed as Grade 6. Having just had my daughter play it I'm sure its been an AMEB Grade 4 piece. Is there really that much variance between AMEB and ABRSM?

Yes, there can be up to 2 grades difference.

Hi all,

A friend of mine recently recommended Graded Piano Repertoire to me, so I subscribed to see what it was all about.

This site attempts to provide an alternate grading system to the main syllabuses, but by far the best thing I like about the site is the ability to find detailed information on a composition by searching their database. You can search by composer, period, level, country, pedagogical feature, form, and many more. There is even a keyword search.

The author has even gone to the trouble of locating YouTube videos of people performing the works, and uploading PDF scores of most of the pieces.

I often use my iPad during lessons, so the students can play pieces directly from the website.

Anyway, hopefully this helps a few of you out, as it has me.

Dave
