Well, after the fabulous celebration of Chopin's 200th birthday we enjoyed recently, we now have to look ahead to our next half-yearly ecital: 17th October, in commemoration of his death day. The works open for this ecital are: the Waltzes, and any work not covered in a previous ecital (see chopinrecital.org to check). I have already had some offers, and know that some of you wanted to carry forward pieces you hadn't quite got ready for March 1st. If I have missed out anyone, please let me know and you will be added to our list. The list so far: Horowitzian: Nocturne in F major, Op 15 no 1 AlisonWhittle: Berceuse, Op 57 Jazzyprof: Posthumous Impromptu in C sharp minor, Op 66 Frycek: Op 11 Larghetto Rustyfingers: Mazurka in B flat, Op 17 No 1 Additionally, a call to Schubertian, Piano&Violin, Secondo, Bassio and co to ask if they want to submit their Mazurkas?

If it's possible, I'd like to sign in for Waltz No. 10 In B Minor, Op. 69 Np. 2. However! If any of you would like to play this waltz, feel free to do so! I don't have my mind set on this one in particular - I have never known the waltzes well and I am sure I will find lots of enjoyment in other ones too. So, basically, I'm willing to switch and give this one up to someone else It's great we have another recital! Best wishes! Mateusz

I'd like to contribute op 69 no 1 if nobody else wants it.Like Mati, I'm not particularly bothered which one I play so if anyone else wants to play it, please say so and I'll be happy to choose one of the other waltzes.

I'm good for Op 64, no 2. I've worked on it on and off, despite my teacher's objections, and that gives me some time to finish what I'm doing now and get to work on this one. This one is pretty popular, so if I have to drop out I'll know by June/July and I'm sure someone will cover it MM

So we have eight pieces already:
Horowitzian: Nocturne Op 15 no 1 in F major AlisonWhittle: Berceuse, Op 57 Jazzyprof: Posthumous Impromptu in C sharp minor, Op 66 Frycek: Larghetto from Op 11 Concerto Rustyfingers: Mazurka Op 17 No 1 in B flat
Maestro_007: Valse Op 64 no 2 in C sharp minor Timmyab: Valse Op 69 no 1 in A flat major Mati: Valse Op 69 no 2 in B minor
Do you realise how few Waltzes Chopin published during his lifetime? Only eight, although there were more than double that altogether - so plenty to choose from!

If I were to abide by the same guidelines as everyone else then I would'nt be true to myself as butchering perfectly good music seems to be my true calling. Oh well, I'll hack up some Chopin somewhere else then. (banished back to the land of misfit toys ....again!).

OK Mistaya - looking forward to that. Frycek - no pressure, see how you feel. Mr Super-H: you are only banished by yourself! Why don't you play some Chopin as he wrote it? You might find it surprisingly rewarding. If you are a toy I think you must be "Action Man" or maybe Barbie's boyfriend Ken Latest programme: Horowitzian: Nocturne Op 15 no 1in F major AlisonWhittle: Berceuse, Op 57 Jazzyprof: Posthumous Impromptu in C sharp minor, Op 66 Frycek: Op 11 Larghetto Rustyfingers: Mazurka Op 17 No 1 in B flat LisztAddict: Polonaise in G sharp minor, Op Post Maestro_007: Valse Op 64 no 2 in C sharp minor Timmyab: Valse Op 69 no 1 in A flat major Mati: Valse Op 69 no 2 in B minor Mistaya: Valse Op 70 no 2 in F minor Ab-ster: Posth. Valse in E minor Anotherschmoe: Valse in A minor, Op Post

I have to say I'm dying to hear this. At the same time I want to keep the Chopin ecitals (particularly the one in memory of his death day) reverent. So I'll have to think about this, Mr s-h.

I noticed that the op 7-1 - mazurka in B flat major, was never recorded, if this is correct I'd like to change from op 34-2 to op 7-1, ok?
cheers

Hi al-mahed, Peyton performed Mazurka 7/1 in the second Mazurkathon so if it's OK I'll put you down for 34/2. Nice to have you on board!

Ok Mary, no problem. But, I didn't find this information in the link "http://www.chopinrecital.org/5301.html". It is suposed to contain all the recordings so far? Or there is another link to others events, like mazurkathon? Could you post the link to the other events (if this is the case)? Perhaps I can find more options of works to chose (I don't have much options since I'm begginer :)) Thanks Hi al-mahed, Peyton performed Mazurka 7/1 in the second Mazurkathon so if it's OK I'll put you down for 34/2. Nice to have you on board!

I agree. So we look forward to your contribution, MR s-h! (Special dispensation - no other improvisations please - we don't want our dear Chopin spinning in Pere Lachaise).
