Springtime is such a beautiful time everywhere that I just didn't want to miss everyone's pics from their hometown. Arizona is known for cactus and desert but many people don't realize how incredibly lush the desert gets after some springtime rain. We took our little boat out today on a local lake (lake Pleasant) just north of Phoenix and Mrs Hunky was able to get a few nice shots. Let's see some nice springtime shots from your area please.

Mr. S.H- looks like you have a Craig-Cat!! We have the same boat- and almost no one around here has seen one like it. Looks like you have a perfect day for this type of boat- great pics!

Mrs. "SUPER" Hunky, to you :P.
Looks beautiful down there...and warm! We just had a high of 35 F yesterday up here in WI, and a bit further east of us they had the snow plows come out because they got 3" of snow!! This, after a whole month of unseasonably warm weather (60s and 70s). Crazy!

Hey,Mr. SH - we love Arizona, have relatives in Flagstaff. We've been to Scottsdale & loved it, it really is gorgeous there! Nice "boat". Here's a few-our magnolia tree looked better a couple days ago before the monsoons & hail & wind hit, but sunny today. This is our golden, "Buddy".

It's been in the 80's and 90's hereabouts in recent days. A couple of days ago I was working in the back yard when a big old wolf spider scurried up the wall to escape the ministries of my string trimmer. I scurried inside to grab a camera to shoot him (or her).

Okay, so this isn't my house or state for that matter, but I can't think of a better metaphor for spring than baby birds, and watching Molly and her owlets has been a major pastime for me this spring.

Thanks -Frycek. I hardly know how to take pictures. Just take a whole bunch and delete the bad takes. That shot was purely accidental.

Dennis, great shot of the spider - how big is he? Bet he eats a lotta flies!! About an inch and a half in length not counting the legs. Pretty big spider, but not in the same size class as tarantulas, of course. These are pretty common around here. Harmless to humans, they are quite beneficial in the number of insects that they consume. Were one to bite it would be somewhat like an ant bite - more irritating than really painful. I don't know if they spin webs. These seem to live in small holes that they dig in the ground.

Chardonnay, yes it is a Craigcat. I love telling people I have a motorized surfboard with a 30hp outboard engine on it. Pucker factor can be huge, especially in offshore waves.
Nguyen, really cute kid you have. Just think, in 15 years he will want to borrow the car on the weekends!
mohr, if you ever visit your relativers in Flagstaff, you can visit us at our Llama ranch. Only 15 minutes away. You'd be the first AB member that I'd actually meet in person (other than this other chick who's name rhymes with Hanaka and starts with an "M" but I had to sign a gag order on that one lol!). Beautiful magnolia tree. Does Buddy keep his teeth so white and clean by chewing your tree branches? It looks it!
Tx-Dennis, Great pic of the spider, I hate spiders though. We have tarantulas here but its the scorpions that can get in your clothes and literally bite you in the arse. I hate that! Stings like a mother too.
EJR, beautiful Magnolia tree.
Monica, nice owl pics. They are so cool and unique. We had a pair of grey horned owls living in a Mesquite tree at our home a few years ago. They kept the rodents down but were very noisy at night calling each other. Beautiful though. Also their white liquid owl bird-poop is like white house paint and near impossible to get off a stucco parapet wall.
Frycek, those and canary island date palms are my favorite variety. They blend well with Robelinni and Sago palms. We have a lot of those in our neighborhood. Date palms too.

This morning my wife started laughing and screaming at the same time. I, of course, went to investigate. On this rainy spring morning the cat had brought this into the house. It took a few minutes to catch the little toad and return it outdoors where it belongs. I believe it is a Texas Toad ( Bufo speciosus) which are fairly common in this area.

I'm still transfixed by Molly and the owlets. (Streaming live 24/7 at www.ustream.tv/theowlbox). But I had to laugh when I saw that some other piano- and owl-obsessed fan had posted this pic on their facebook page: Looks like Molly is being a good mom and supervising Max's practicing.
