Has anyone on this forum learned this piece? If you have do you have any tips. The first page was very easy I was able to play it smoothly after a few minutes of messing around and I play it hands together on my second day of learning it from the score, I have the whole page memorized perfectly by now, including the rhythm but it's not up to tempo yet which will take some time of course but I'm in no hurry. I'm just happy I could sight read it so well without assistance, I must be getting better because I found it very easy. It does help that it has fingering notations, it saved me some time.

So if you have learned it already can you tell me about it? Which parts did you find tricky to play or anything else that might help me learn it better? smile

Here is the score I have:

What you posted sounds more complicated than the score I have but it is very beautiful indeed.

There are two versions.

The "easier" one, the one you have, is IMO an early intermediate piece.

He is playing this then?

I'll stick to the easier version, it's complicated enough for me laugh

Here is my version that I posted of this piece several years ago. Both the recording quality and the performance itself are not that great as I haven't been playing that long when this was recorded. Also, the audio was recorded using a digital camera.

Definitely a piece to re-learn/re-post someday. This is a beautiful piece that I would reccommend all beginers to learn. Very rewarding when you can play it and not too difficult to learn.

Hey, I learned it right?, what does that tell you!

It was perfect! PERFECT! Don't you dare say there is something wrong with your performance because there isn't!

Also is this your living room or a background from a FF game, it looks like something out of a fairy tale laugh

There is an even easier version which is very poorly arranged or at least that's how the sheet looks like.

I've learned it.
It's still in my fingers except for the last tricky chords part.
Well, not THAT tricky, but I'll have to relearn it a bit.

It's woooonderful.

My playin' of it (same version you're learning) is here:
http://shazware.com/music/
About 2/3 the way down the page.

Make sure you take a listen to how others play it.
How YOU decide to play it will likely sound different
than how I decided to (or anybody else).

It's a song with some wonderful expression to it.

And this version ain't too tough laugh

I learned this myself as well, except it was even more simplified version, wasn't too hard. It was a while ago though and I don't play it anymore, I don't really actually like the song that much.

I started learning Eternity memory of lightwaves though some time ago, but put it on hold for a while. A song I really like that maybe you should be on look out for learning sometime, though I think its rather difficult myself but I haven't really put myself into it yet and have tried a few other pieces. Busy times, and I don't get too much time at the moment sit down and try focus on learning new pieces.

The only problem I found with the song is playing over longer distances with 1 hand. I really can't do it well.

I believe the one you posted was the one I was playing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pY5Un-dxry0

I've yet to learn the full Piano Collections arrangement.

Now, about tricky parts... I don't really remember trouble with this piece. I've had general trouble with hitting chords, so the last page was more difficult for me than the first few, especially towards the end - but it all came out quite nicely in the end.

I've just remembered I haven't played this piece for a long time... thanks for a reminder smile

And good luck!

M.

I'm not that great so I don't know that I can give many tips, but I bought a piano specifically because of this song. I had heard it before, but upon hearing it again a year ago I decided to buy a piano.

I learned to (almost) play the more difficult version by watching youtube videos and developing muscle memory. But I can't play the third page where the bass runs up and down the piano quickly. I suppose I should record myself and get some feedback, and show you what a complete amateur was able to do just by repetition.

Here's the video I used to learn it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTHuKTMl2...t=1&index=8

And another that I think is great (this guy is wonderful and has spent a lot of time recording tons of videos): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11IYF0qMyaY

I just signed on today after a year away and once again I see people asking about this song... it truly is amazing.
