I was browsing the music store yesterday and came across Warlock's Capriol Suite. I've heard it many times in full orchestra and string orchestra versions, but have never seen it as a piano duet.
It appears that it's upper elementary to lower intermediate level for the most part.
Question, have any of you taught this and if so, what problems if any did you encounter? I note that the partner's hands are very close to each other. Has this been a problem for students?
Thanks,
John

I haven't exactly taught it, but I've played it through a number of times with relatively inexperienced pianists (actually was playing it yesterday, funnily enough ) and haven't found the proximity of the hands a great problem. Some things need to be negotiated, but that's what duet playing is about. It's so neatly and economically written, I find, and great fun to play.

It is rather cool sounding, considering the underlying music is nearly 500 years old! I think the kids will like it. I haven't decided whether to give it to a pair of 5th grade girls, who are doing duets together, or a brother-sister duo, who are also doing duets together (the sister is part of both duos).
