Hello everyone!

I am a beginner piano player. I've started playing in Jan 2010. I do not attend any music school and don't have a private teacher, so I would like some feedback on me playing :)So any tips and advice is appreciated!

Hello, for only a few months playing the piano is a good result. Of course im not a profesional pianist, i have the piano grade but its my hobby. I give you my opinion, for me it sounds so much like a a machine. Do you play another instrument? For me its sounds very mechanical, try to make it more musically. About technique i see that you have a tipical "error" on the beggining of learning is that you bend back the articulation between the two last phalanges of the fingers, distal phalanx and intermediate phalax:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Scheme_human_hand_bones-en.svg

For this there is an exercise that is to put each point finger touching the point finger of the other hand, like Mr Burns saying "Excelent" in the simpsons, and push the hands with care that not bend back the phalanges.

For not sound so static, look to other interpretations, i give you mine, because i have this piece recorded:

you have other pieces, easy and more complicated here:

I hope i help you.

Regards.

Thank you for your comments! I'll work on my technique, have a go at impersonating Mr Burns wink When it comes to playing like a machine , thank you for your video! No I dont play any other instrument. I am new to the world of playing music. And as someone who enjoys computer programming I read notes as a computer would and do not dare to change the length of them laugh I will try to play more musically. And that is where your video will be a great help! Thank you!

One more thing. When you start learning a new piece, do you just learn the notes and play static until you get the hang of it or do you try to play musically from the very start?

Well first of all you have to know the notes, for this i study it without playing, reading the notes, looking for rythm, and identifying the most difficult passages. These are the first to study. Then take the bars before and after that passages and join them carefully, always from slow tempo to fast tempo, in order to adquire more accurate in the notes and playing. Try always to play musically from the beggining, because once you know the work is more difficult to change it with considerable changes. Of course musically is something that has to come from inside of you, and its very difficult to learn.

I hope this help you wink

Regards
