Larry Fine (The Piano Book) rates pianos by a "star" rating, 1 star being the lowest and 5 stars being the finest. Larry rates the Young Chang pianos in the 3-star category. He rates the Yamaha uprights in the 4-star category.

While the quality of pianos from various countries continues to fluxuate globally (the Chinese pianos gaining ground), in most opinions here on Piano World, Korea (Young Chang) still rates above the Chinese pianos for the most part. However, Japan (Yamaha and Kawai) still ranks above most Korean product.

In the books that I checked, I do not see the model E302. So make sure it is a "current" model. However, the Yamaha U3 has been a staple in the line for decades. In this category, (52" professional uprights), Yamaha has always held the number one position here.

If you are in Costa Rica, the model number could be different for that reason. Also, what is availble to you in terms of brands, could differ significantly from other forum members.
By the way, Paul Y sells Yamahas and is biased for that reason. Yamaha's consumer-grade uprights are better than most, but they are not number one compared to most European or American makers, and some would prefer Kawai to Yamaha.

It is true that in general terms, conventional wisdom ranks Japanese above Korean above Chinese.
Perhaps some Young Chang dealers on the forum can chime in with more specific info on an "E302"
If the U3 you refer to is Yamaha, try their website or a local dealer for more info.
Are you looking at used pianos? If so, the age and condition will matter more than the model number. In other words, it might have been perfect when it was new, but it isn't new any more. You'll need to check out each one to see what it is like.

No need to jump on poor Paul for bias \:\)

He wasn't making any absurd claims on behalf of Yamaha, and what he said about Fine's ranking seems pretty straightforward. One may quibble about making claims concerning what "most people" on the forum think, but his assertion wasn't way off base either. But hearing from a Young Chang rep isn't a bad idea!

I'm very happy with Koreans pianos, there are affordables, there is no questions about than others piano brands are better.
E302 and U3(serial numbers) are stamp in the metal of the harp, I don't think than koreans make pianos with special serial number for Central America, this a very small market.
Those pianos most be have 15 or 20 years old.
I don't know where I can find catalogs of them.
Thank you very much for your advises, as you can see, English is not my own language.
