Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed listening. Picking a favourite piano however seems pointless. They both sound great and who really cares what I think. I say just enjoy the music.

They are both so beautiful its hard to choose. Agree! and the "family resemblance" in tone is very clear!

Very nice video. My guess is that HE was playing the Hamburg and SHE was playing the American. How do you know that one is German and one American? Is it the glossier finish on the piano HE was playing or do you have some other inside information? In any case, both are lovely pianos and the arrangement was excellent. First rate.

She is playing the New York. Look at the fallboard. I like both instruments but perhaps I'd prefer a CFIIIS ;-)

It does appear she plays the NY and he plays the Hamburg. Although there is a family resemblance the two do sound distinctively different to me, but together they should better than 2 NYs or 2 Hamburgs due to the differences in sound. For a single piano, I started in the NY camp but I've grown more into the Hamburg camp and prefer it now.

Yes, he is playing the Hamburg. It has a "glassier" sound as well as appearance. A concert duo-piano husband/wife team that I used to tune for used to play that arrangement. They have since passed away but seeing the video brought back memories.

She's playing a New York, and he's playing a Hamburg.

Very hard to tell from a youtube clip and a fairly mushy recording with a sharp and tinkly treble especially from the NY piano. I really disliked the over-ornamented arrangement. To me the D always sounds muffled and imprecise when the lid is down too. I realise they wanted to video the pianists facing each other - better to have popped the lids off.

That certainly was a curious choice. Perhaps the acoustics of the room were poor. FWIW, I believe most grands sound muffled and muddy with the lid completely closed.
