I use KORG SP250 and connect it with emu-0404usb.
All keys and pedal transmitted OK, but problem with volume controller. As write in midi implementation chart SP250 can transmit and recognize volume as MIDI control change 7.
But pianotec, reaper and other program can not recognize sp250 volume change. I don't understand - why? Where are I wrong?

Yuri, I would recommend you contact Korg's technical support department - assuming you haven't done so already, of course.

Kind regards,
James

Probably the master volume slider doesnt send MIDI events.
I have now used 2 keyboards and 2 digital pianos and with none of them the master volume slider has sent MIDI events.

If, for example you layer sounds, and change the balance, then you should see events.

And if there is a menu or a special key combination to change the volume, you will probably see events.

I believe that is an intended behaviour. If for example you mix external and internal sounds you can adjust the volume ratio and that would be impossible if the master slider would send Volume events.

Best is to load a MIDI monitor like MIDI-OX. This will show all MIDI events on all channels and translate them into human readable text. Then you know, whats really going on.

HTH,

Peter

hpeterh, thanks! MIDI-OX display very usable but volume changing not display...
Why in korg manual in midi implementation chart write the volume changing transmitted in both sides? It is lie!

If you, like me are employed in service, repair and development and have to work with technical specs and datasheets and catalogs, you will lern soon that errors are rather frequent.
It would be much easier if all specs where really 100% correct and 100% complete. That is not the case in real life ;-)

So in that case I would say, that is not a lie it is an error.
Possibly copied from an older document wthout checking.

Or, the error is between your (or my) both ears. Did you really try to layer 2 sounds an then adjust the balance? In this case volume events should be sent ....

Peter

Yes, I can use layers and use it method for volume controlling - its work, but not usable. And I think polyphony increase 2 times and require more computer resources

You must adjust the volume of your soundcard.
If the piano has no menu to change the volume there is probably no other chance.
The master volume -usually located at the left side- almost never sends MIDI events.
It is just a potentiometer connected to the amplifier or to the DAC.
That is the case with all keyboards I know, there might be some exceptions.
