A laureate of numerous Korean competitions, in 2008 he won Second Prize in the Hong Kong International Piano Competition and the Nagoya International Music Competition (Japan), as well as a prize from the Japan Academy of Chamber Music. Last year he won Second Prize in the Dublin International Piano Competition. He has given a series of recitals in Korea (Young Artist Concert Series) and Japan and has also performed with the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra. That same year, he won First Prize in the Interlaken Classics International Piano Competition in Berne and won the Grand Prix Animato in Paris. He has given recitals in the Kumho Artists and Kumho Rising Stars concert series in Seoul and in Paris (Salle Cortot), Florence, and Leipzig and has performed with major orchestras such as the KBS Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Tokyo Symphony, and the Belgrade Philharmonic. He has also taken part in the Hamamatsu Piano Academy, the Ishikawa Festival, and the Euro Music Festival in Leipzig. He studied with Boris Bloch at the Folkwang-Hochschule für Musik in Essen and later with Georg Friedrich Schenck at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf. He has been a laureate of numerous competitions since 1996. In 2008 he won First Prize at the Alessandro Casagrande International Competition (Terni) and Second Prize at the Sviatoslav Richter International Piano Competition (Moscow). Last year he was a finalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and also won praise for his interpretation of the Franck Quintet with the Takács Quartet.
