Since there doesn't seem to be nearly enough comment on some of these threads, and since really and truly at this point in time I could do no better than to write about the great accomplishments of others, and to serve notice that they are being heard by some people out here, allow me to congratulate Wiwi Kuan for his apparently very successful recent recital in Taipei. I notice that he used a Steinway D, a nice one by the sound of it. The fabulous composer, Nikolai Kapustin, incorporating as he does, distinctly American Jazz idioms throughout his really enormous output, is certainly going to help spread these idioms far and wide and in the process may help save a valuable link through people such as Alexander Scriabin and Sergei Rachmaninoff through possibly Sergei Prokofiev and on into the stride players and then Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson and Keith Jarrett. Of Wiwi's playing may I just say THANK-YOU and YOU REALLY FEEL IT! Please, let's set a precedent here at Piano World Piano Forum to make sure and compliment and support the next generation of professional pianists as they continue to set the standards for the rest of us and offer hope that all the very hard work and effort we all put into pianism does not go for nothing.
